Unveiling of bench to commemorate the deaths of Sizakele Sigasa and Salome PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 05 July 2009 18:43

The 070707 Campaign to end hate will be holding an event in Meadowlands Soweto on the 7th July 2009 to commemorate the second anniversary of the deaths of Sizakele Sigasa and Salome Masooa. It is also the second anniversary of the founding of the 070707 Campaign which has since this time been engaged with numerous cases of homophobic hate across the country.

At the event in Meadowlands we will be unveiling a bench which will memorialise the two young lesbian women who were so brutally murdered two years ago. The unveiling will be accompanied by a short programme and we invite all interested parties to attend.

On the 7th we will not only remember Sizakele and Salome but all victims of homophobic hate across the country. We will recommit ourselves to the struggle to end discrimination and violence targeting LGBTI people and once more demand justice for those victims whose cases remain unresolved.

The details of the unveiling are as follows:

Date: 07 July 2009
Time: 13:00 – 14:00.
Place: at the park near the Meadowlands, Zone 2 shopping center and Bapedi Hall.
