The Global Justice Team of Metropolitan Community Churches will present a webinar entitled MCC: Tolerance & Faith --- Proposed Mosque, New York City and the Globe on Friday, September 10 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM (ET). 

The purpose of the webinar will be to facilitate a healthy conversation from an ethical, theological and pastoral perspective. One goal of this conversation will be to enhance understanding of the significance of the proposed mosque near the site of the former World Trade Center in New York City as we near the upcoming 9/11/01 Day of Remembrance.

Our facilitator for this holy conversation will be the Rev. Gayle Davis, who is a lawyer and former prosecuting attorney in New York City.  Rev. Davis is now a clergy person with Metropolitan Community Churches and is pursuing her doctorate in ethics under Dr. Traci C. West, Professor of Ethics and African American Studies at Drew University Theological School, Madison, New Jersey.

As we near the tenth anniversary of September 11th, Rev. Davis will use a Christian social ethical analysis to raise questions on the New York City mosque controversy:  What does it mean to build and live in the beloved community?  What are the ethical perspectives that should guide responses by Christian and civil communities to the mosque controversy?  Do death and destruction ipso facto make a community sacred or does sacredness begin in our response to such tragic events?
